Residential extensions
Services: Structural engineering, SER certification
The architect engaged us to provide structural engineering services for the project. As the certifying engineer, we ensured that all aspects of design satisfied the requirements of the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
We provided detailed drawings of the structural elements of the new extension, including the foundations, walls, beams and the unusual glazing configuration.
We ensured that the innovative design achieved an SER (Structural Engineers Registration) certificate and was granted a building warrant. The new extension is now complete, with the owners enjoying the stunning views over the Ochil hills that it provides.
Roads and drainage – new housing estate
Services: Civil and structural engineering, environmental engineering, planning assistance
We carried out a thorough investigation of the area and a review of the type and number of new homes being built to gain a full understanding of the requirements.
We devised and provided detailed plans of a suitable proposed road layout, including the required levels to suit the housing layout. As with all new developments today, we included in the drainage design a sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS) as part of our plans.
We were then responsible for obtaining all the necessary approvals. This included working closely with the relevant local authority and its roads department, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and Scottish Water to ensure acceptability and compliance with local planning and regulatory requirements.
The site is now developed and many families are enjoying their new house.
